There are multiple cellular phone service providers, all offering different rates and different plans. This makes it confusing to choose which one would be the best.

 

It is up to you to make your best selection based on the most information possible. It starts with knowing what you want out of a plan. For instance, some prepaid cell phone plans offer unlimited calling, internet, and texting for a very low rate." do you want to be able to call anyone day or night without running up a huge bill?

 

Either that or maybe you do not want to worry about a calling dropping in the middle of your conversation. (You’ve all seen the commercials and you’ve all laughed, but in really life it can be quiet annoying at the very least.)

 

You also may be a person who wants to be very sure in case of an emergency. It does not do any good to have a phone if it is going to fail you right when you most need it.

Plan Selection

 

When you seek a plan, you want to find out how much you can get for the most money. For instance, some prepaid phones offer unlimited calling, internet, and texting for a very low rate. Sometimes it is $50.00, and sometimes it is $70.00.

 

You start running into the more expensive cell plans if you have to pay say $80.00 or more for all these unlimited services. The same goes for some postpaid plans of which you would get either an online statement or paper bill you have to pay every month.

 

However, sometimes it is not even that simple. There is another aspect of choosing a phone plan that may make a difference to you. If you travel quite a bit chances are you are going to need nationwide or even worldwide coverage.

 

Wanting better coverage may be an instance in which you would pay more than the average rate per month. That, and perhaps you do not want to worry about whether or not you can call in your basement or other obscure place in your home.

 

Therefore, some people do not mind paying $100.00 or more per month if it ensures total coverage and best reception. Keep in mind though it is possible to find all of this for a special rate.

 

In more recent years you may have also heard of what is called your “favorite five” or comparable plan. This may seem like a great deal-and it can be. However, considering there are companies that will let you make unlimited calls for a cheap enough rate this may not be necessary.

 

On the other hand, if that company that offers your “favorite five” or perhaps a “mobile to mobile” and they have great coverage and reception it may be worth it. By the way, a “mobile to mobile” deal usually involves calling to someone who has the same phone company as you.

 

For instance, many people call from Sprint to Sprint phones for free any time of the day. Otherwise, if it is during daytime hours (usually before 7p.m. or before 9 p.m.) it might cost you.

 

There are other phone companies that offer free calling to people of the same company too. AT&T is one of them, and probably most other major providers.

 

Additional Cellular Plan Advice

 

Do not be fooled by some of the rather confusing rate plans out there. Examine the brochures and online literature carefully before making your selection. Furthermore, use online search tools to compare the rates of several cellular phone service providers at once.

 

Additionally, it is highly advised that if you pay more than say $10.00 or $20.00 for your phone (or it’s worth more than that) you should get insurance on it. Otherwise, you may be stuck without a phone and cannot get a new one for a while.
